It's time to vote for the BC Boys Performer of the Week for October 21st - October 27th!
As athletes gear up for the BC School Sports Provincial Championships, the Zone Championships saw impressive performances from BC's top male cross-country runners. Let's take a closer look at this week's standout athletes:
Noah Louwerse - The Grade 12 runner from Credo Christian took the top spot in the AAA Boys 5km race at the Eastern Valley Zone Championships with a time of 17:33.20, leading a competitive field and being one of only four athletes to break the 18-minute barrier.
Charlie Mlotshwa - This senior from Oak Bay Secondary dominated the Senior Boys AAA Vancouver Island Zone Championships, completing the 5km course in 17:14. Mlotshwa won his race by over 30 seconds, becoming one of only two athletes in the competition to finish under 18 minutes.
Finlay Boggan - The Grade 10 Highland Secondary athlete claimed victory in the Junior Boys 4km race at the Vancouver Island Zone Championships, finishing in 14:19 and leading by a solid 30-second margin.
Tommy Reed - Competing for Nechako Valley Secondary, Grade 10 runner Reed won the Junior Boys 4.5km race at the North Central Zone Championships with a time of 16:38, marking him as the only athlete in the 43-runner field to dip below 17 minutes.
Andrew Neill - This senior from West Point Grey Academy took home the win in the Senior Boys AA race at the Vancouver Sea to Sky Zone Championships with a commanding time of 16:40 on the 5km course, finishing over a minute ahead of the competition and as the only runner in his division to break the 17-minute mark.
