BC Future Stars: Meet Alexa Dow and Charlie Mlotshwa!

Alexa Dow had a monumental 2023 season, breaking records and representing Team Canada. Dow's achievements include breaking the provincial U18 1,500m record and competing in the Youth Commonwealth Games in Trinidad. Her consistent performances in the 800m, running under 2:07, attracted the attention of college coaches, leading to her commitment to North Carolina State University (NC State).

As she runs in her final season as a high schooler,  Dow continues to leave a trail of outstanding performances in 2024. Competing at the 2024 Harry Jerome Track Classic, after setting a U18 Canadian National Record in the mile with an incredible time of 4:47.15 just a few days before, she took on a highly competitive women's 800m, holding her own against older athletes. Dow also claimed victory at the 2024 BC School Sports Provincial Championships, winning the Senior Girls' 1500m and solidifying her dominance at the provincial level. Moving into the XC season, she finished second in the U18 Girls race at the Vancouver Spirit Run.

As both Dow and Mlotshwa gear up for the next phases of their cross-country seasons, one thing is clear: they are just getting started. With the BC High School Championships and ACXC fast approaching, there's no telling just how far these rising stars will go. Keep an eye out as they continue to dominate!
