Hurtubise Sets U18 Provincial Record with 4m Pole Vault

On July 20, 2024, Mackenzie Hurtubise soared to new heights at the Ontario Championships held at the Track and Field Centre Outdoor Track in Toronto. Competing in the U20 divisionHurtubise cleared an impressive 4.00 meters, setting a new U18 BC Provincial Record and meeting the World U20 standard. This remarkable achievement underscores her talent, building on an already stellar season, in addition to her success last year where she ended the season as the 2023 U18 Canadian Champion and U20 National Silver Medalist.

Earlier in 2024, Hurtubise showcased her potential with notable performances, including a 3.66m vault at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, NV, and a 3.60m leap at the New Balance Nationals Indoors in Boston, MA. Her consistency continued with a first-place finish at the Richmond Relays, where she cleared 3.50m, and a strong showing at the Mt. SAC Relays, vaulting 3.61m.

June was particularly eventful for Hurtubise, as she achieved a mark of 3.73m at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, OR, and secured second place at the Canadian U20 Championships in MontrĂ©al with a 3.60m vault. She continued to impress at the Trevor Craven Memorial Track & Field Meet in Burnaby and the BC Athletics Track & Field Championship Jamboree in Nanaimo, where she recorded vaults of 3.60m and 3.62m, respectively.

Hurtubise's record-breaking vault in Toronto marks a significant milestone in her vaulting career and we can't wait to see what she does next.
