2024 BCSS Champs: Day Two Recap


There were 7 throws champions in Nanaimo on day 2, with impressive performances and close battles. 

Will Curtain of Vancouver College, last year's junior bronze medallist, won the Senior Boys Hammer Throw with a 46.96m throw. Dominic Mikacevich Warholm took silver after winning the bronze last year, throwing 44.61m. Harris Marshall won the bronze with a throw of 41.82m. Lauren Curtis of Maple Ridge Secondary took the Senior Girls Hammer title over last year's champion Elise Drake, throwing 48.13m and 47.11m respectively. Katelyn Putz threw 45.09m for bronze. Talia Phangura upgraded last year's bronze to a gold, throwing 51.96m to win the Junior Girls Hammer title by over 7 meters. Megan Teolis and Reece Cochrane were second and third, respectively. 

In the Junior Girls Javelin, Alana Car is your new BC Champion with a throw of 35.69m. Lucia Sutherland is the silver medallist with a throw of 34.86m, and Taelyn Stuve the bronze medallist with a throw of 34.78m. The Grade 8 Girls Javelin champion this year is Ela Besic with a throw of 28.28m. 

In the circle, Gursher Gabri won the Junior Boys Shot Put competition by nearly 3 meters, throwing 14.04m. Matthew Terepocki Grant threw 11.73m for second place, while Leander Browne threw 11.29m for third. Your 2024 Grade 8 Boys Shot Put champion is Isaiah Mariano with a throw of 10.73m. Gabri doubled his gold medals for day 2, winning the Junior Boys Discus as well. Gabri threw 45.34m for the title, with Alexander Cheung throwing 38.14m for silver and Chase Longley throwing 36.56m for the bronze.
