Nothing Can Slow Down Yemane Mulugeta

Since his start in running, Mulugeta has already accomplished so much and he shows no signs of slowing down. Whether on the track or the cross country trails Mulugeta has shown he has range by competing in the 800m all the way up to the half marathon, an event in which he currently holds the U20 Canadian National Record. Not to mention he was awarded Most Outstanding Athlete at the 2023 BC High School Track and Field Provincial Championships after finishing first in both the 3000m and steeplechase.

"I have now been running for close to two years and because of the sport have had many amazing opportunities. I have made so many good friends, been selected to run for Team BC, both in cross country and track. I have traveled to a number of provinces, including Quebec for the U18 Legion Nationals and Ontario for the U18 Canadian XC Championships. From these experiences I have been able to build a great life for myself in Canada."

Now with the 2023 Canadian XC Championships soon approaching, Mulugeta has his sights set on that being his next race, but is also looking towards 2024 and the years ahead.

"I am excited for the Canadian XC Championships in Ottawa. Other than that,  in track I am hoping to achieve new personal bests in the 1500m, 3000m, 50000m and 10,0000m during the 2024 season and my goal for the future is to run for Canada and continue to push myself in all areas of running."
