BC Boys Dominate at Zone Championships (May 12-18)
BC's male athletes showed impressive strength and speed this past week, delivering standout performances across sprints, jumps, throws, and middle-distance events at key championships across the province. These young men continue to push BC's track and field scene forward.

South Central Zone Championships - Apple Bowl Stadium, Kelowna
Ryan Lofstrom sprinted to double gold in the Senior Boys division, winning the 100m in 10.58 (2.3) - the only athlete to break 11 seconds - and the 200m in 21.60, outpacing the field by over half a second. A powerful showing from the Grade 12 athlete.
Tyler Hvidston of Penticton Secondary soared to victory in the Junior Boys pole vault, clearing 4.10m - well over a metre and a half beyond his seed mark of 3.71m. He also won the event by over a meter and a half.
Fraser North Zone Championships - Percy Perry Stadium, Coquitlam
Sasha Guyduy from Dr. Charles Best dominated the Junior Boys 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:04.77, winning by more than five seconds.
VSSAA City Championships - Vancouver, Point Grey/UBC/Swangard
Roman Yeterian of Lord Byng threw his way to a triple victory in the Senior Boys throws events. He won the discus with a massive throw of 47.57m, besting the field by over 17 metres. He also took the shot put with a 14.35m mark, winning by more than 4 metres, and powered through the hammer throw with 39.08m, edging the competition by nearly 20 metres.
