As the outdoor season pushes forward, BC's young female athletes continue to showcase their talent, grit, and dominance across a wide range of events. From sprints to throws to the hurdles and race walk, this past week featured standout performances at several championships across the province.

South Central Zone Championships - Apple Bowl Stadium, Kelowna
Kaylie Lofstrom delivered a commanding sprint double in the Junior Girls division, clocking 12.16 in the 100m and 25.96 (-1.0) in the 200m. The Grade 9 athlete was the only athlete to dip under both 27 and 26 seconds in the 200m and won the 100m by over a full second. She's quickly making a name for herself.
Hannia Stevens, dominated the Junior Girls shot put, launching a throw of 10.79m to win by more than a metre and a half. She also competed in the javelin, throwing a distance of 17.69m.
Fraser North Zone Championships - Percy Perry Stadium, Coquitlam
Maya Piesik of Moscrop Secondary cruised to a decisive victory in the Junior Girls 1500m Race Walk, stopping the clock at 6:58.30 - nearly two full minutes ahead of the field. The win earned her 10 points for her team.
Delaney Self of Dr. Charles Best impressed in both hurdles events, taking home double gold. She ran 1:04.28 in the Senior Girls 400m hurdles, winning by over 15 seconds, and clocked 14.93 in the Junior Girls 100m hurdles. Her versatility across hurdle distances is something to keep an eye on as BC School Sports is quickly approaching!
VSSAA City Championships - Vancouver, Point Grey/UBC/Swangard
Chloe Symon of Lord Byng put on a show at the city championships, winning three individual titles in the Senior Girls division. She was the only athlete in the 400m to break 60 seconds, running 56.95 to win by more than five seconds. In the 200m, she clocked 25.23, again the only one under 26, and in the 800m, she dominated with a 2:13.52 - over 13 seconds ahead of second place. A dominant triple that shows her outstanding range.
