BC Boys Deliver Record-Breaking Performances at 2025 Provincial Championships
From record-breaking throws to sprint doubles and standout jumps, the 2025 BC School Sports Provincial Championships delivered strong performances across every event group.

Gursher Gabri's Throws Triple - Grade 10 athlete Gabri dominated the junior boys throws. He won the discus with a meet record 53.67m, finishing over 10 meters ahead of the field. He also broke the meet record in shot put with a 16.73m throw, and won the hammer with a mark of 56.29m-just 21cm short of another record.
Ryan Lofstrom Wins Senior Sprint Double - Lofstrom completed the senior boys sprint double in impressive fashion. He ran 10.76 into a -1.8 m/s headwind to win the 100m, then followed it up with a 21.58 in the 200m, the only sub-22 clocking in the field. He was named Male Performer of the Meet.
Tyler Hvidston's Triple: Hurdles and Pole Vault - Hvidston pulled off a unique triple in the junior boys division. He won the 100m hurdles in 13.96, and the 300m hurdles in 39.92-more than a second clear of the next fastest athlete. He also set a new meet record in the pole vault, clearing 3.80m and breaking his own mark from last year.
Walker Brown Clears 2.09m - In the senior boys high jump, Brown was the only athlete to clear 2.00m. He won the event with a new personal best of 2.09m, earning the provincial title.
Grade 8 Javelin Record for Kai Bevans - Bevans set a new meet record in the Grade 8 boys javelin with a throw of 45.20m. He also took the win in the long jump with a leap of 5.56m.
Record Run for Riley Simmonds - Simmonds took the senior boys 1500m in 3:50.08, breaking the meet record in a tightly contested race. He also placed fourth in the 3000m with a time of 8:38.30.
