2024 BCSS Champs: Day Three Recap


The final event on the track on day 3 and perhaps the most anticipated of any track meet was the 4x400 meter relay finals. 

In the Senior Boys 4x400m race, Vancouver College won the title in a time of 3:25, with Robert Alexander McMath Secondary in second and West Point Grey Academy in third. 

The Senior Girls champions were the hometown team, Nanaimo District Secondary, going sub-4 with a 3:59 performance. York House School took silver and Oak Bay Secondary the bronze. 

In the Junior Boys race, Pacific Academy won the provincial title while North Delta Secondary won silver and White Rock Christian Academy won bronze. 

GW Graham won the Junior Girls event, with Holy Cross in second and Robert Alexander McMath in third. 

The vertical events saw athletes soar to incredible heights on day 3. 

In the Senior Boys Pole Vault, William Millard of Handsworth Secondary was the only competitor above 4m, vaulting 4.28m for gold. Austin Li and Enoch Lee both vaulted 3.60m, with Li awarded silver and Lee awarded bronze on countback. In the Junior Girls Pole Vault, last year's silver medallist Gabrielle Armstrong won the title this year, vaulting 3.56m. Ona Dalmau Clotet vaulted 3.10m for silver, while Elizabeth Toth vaulted 2.80m for bronze. 

A very close final saw all top 4 competitors in the Junior Girls High Jump jump 1.60m, with the placements decided on countback. Addison Hill was named champion, while Kaylee Vandeburgt won the silver. Tied, Lily Stroda and Huia Pollock share bronze. In the Junior Boys High Jump, Walker Brown cleared 1.90m to take the provincial title, while Ethan Mvundura cleared 1.85 m for silver and Simon Smallacombe cleared 1.80m for bronze.
