BC ATHLETES EARN SPOT ON TEAM CANADA
London, Ontario brought together Canada's top distance runners for the 2025 Canadian Cross Country Championships, with spots on Team Canada for the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships on the line. In challenging, frosty conditions, British Columbia athletes delivered standout performances across multiple races.
In the women's open 10km, Vancouver's Ceili McCabe led the field from start to finish, taking the national title with a commanding margin. Her victory marked a return to the top after already making a name for herself as the 2023 Champion and representing Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics. BC's presence at the senior level was further strengthened by Grace Fetherstonhaugh of New Westminster and Glynis Sim of Vancouver, both of whom posted strong performances to secure their places on the National Team.
At the U20 level, Abbotsford's Adrianna Buitelaar emerged once again. She powered past the competition in the final stages of the women's 8km race to claim gold and earn her maple leaf singlet.
From established Olympians to promising young athletes, British Columbia demonstrated both experience and emerging talent. These athletes will carry their provincial pride onto the international stage at the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships.
