BC Future Stars: Lyla Teer!

BC Future Stars: Meet Lyla Teer

This week in our BC Future Stars series on MileSplit BC we turn the spotlight to Lyla Teer, a junior athlete steadily climbing the ranks in the BC cross country scene. Teer started the high school season with a string of impressive performances and heads into championship season as one to watch.

She opened her 2025 campaign at the Aldergrove Bowl, running 14:53.19 over 4km. She followed that up at the Big Valley Clash, winning the junior girls 4km in 15:22 and joining only one other runner under 16 minutes in a competitive field of 125 athletes.

Teer's standout performance came at the Nike Hole in the Wall XC Invitational, one of the most prestigious cross country meets in the Pacific Northwest. The meet attracts top athletes from BC, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, and beyond. Teer claimed JV gold in the 5km race, a field of more than 270 runners, finishing 18:56.2, the only athlete under 19 minutes and winning by more than 30 seconds.

With the Eastern Valley XC Zone Championships coming up next week, Teer will look to continue her streak of strong finishes and prove she can compete with the best in the province. Her consistency across 4km and 5km distances, combined with her early-season dominance, marks her as one of BC's most exciting young cross country talents.
