Amelia-Ahn Lou has steadily emerged as one of British Columbia's top young middle-distance and cross-country athletes. Over the past three seasons, she has shown measurable improvement and versatility across distances, from the 400m on the track to 5km on the trails.
In 2023, as a first year junior, Lou made a strong impression. She won several OCSAA League Meets, finished third at the BCSS Thompson Okanagan Zone XC Championships, and placed fourth at BCSS Provincials, running 16:55 for 4km at Zones and 15:51 at Provincials.
She carried that momentum into 2024. During her Grade 10 year she won the Thompson Okanagan Zone Championships in 16:20 and followed it with a second-place finish at Provincials. Each race showed clear progress and growing consistency.
Lou's 2025 track season highlighted her range. Competing through the South Central Zone, she reached the BCSS Provincial Championships, finishing fourth in the 1500m (4:40.74) and winning the 800m (2:10.43), edging the runner-up by four seconds. She has also posted times in the 58-second range for 400m and 10:41 for 3000m, proving she can perform well and competitively across multiple distances.
Now back on the trails, Lou recently raced in the OCSAA XC Race Series at Knox Mountain, running 17:38 for 5km and taking the win by 10 seconds.
The trajectory is clear. Lou is faster, more versatile, and more consistent each year, with tangible improvements in both times and placements. If she continues at this pace, she will remain a strong contender for provincial titles across events in her last years of high school and has the potential to make an impact at the national level.
