Camryn Rogers sets a new Canadian Record of 78.62m!

R.A McMath Secondary and University of California, Berkeley, graduate, Camryn Rogers, broke her own Canadian record, throwing a distance of 78.62m in the hammer throw to win the USATF LA Grand Prix on Friday, May 26.

She won the competition by over two meters, finishing ahead of reigning World Champion, Brooke Anderson (76.06m) and American Record Holder, DeAnna Price (75.89m). Not to mention, her mark also ranks her 5th in world history! She now sits behind Betty Heidler, Brooke Anderson, DeAnna Price, and world record holder Anita Wlodarczyk; the world record stands at 82.98 meters.

Back in April, Rogers opened up her outdoor season with a throw of 77.30m at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational and Multis and just a week later threw 77.84m at Mt. SAC Relays. It is looking like there is definitely an upward trend each time Rogers steps in the throwing circle!

With a lot more of the season left, including the 2023 World Championships, set to take place in Budapest, Hungary, we are definitely keeping our eyes open for more big marks.
