With the Canada West (CanWest) and Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championships wrapped up, BC athletes made their presence felt across the board, securing top-eight finishes and valuable points for their teams. While these athletes hail from BC, they are competing for universities across the country, while still proudly representing their home province on the national stage.
Standout Performances in Canada West
BC athletes delivered strong performances in CanWest, securing podium finishes and top-eight placements across various events.
Rui Ramsey (Trinity Western) clocked 6.86 in the 60m, placing 4th.
Skyler Lubben (Alberta) battled to 8th place in the 600m, running 1:37.95.
Tate O'Brien (Victoria) had a solid run in the 600m, finishing 4th in 1:20.30.
Jack Boden (Victoria) placed 4th in the 1000m with a time of 2:27.64.
Daniel Damian (Victoria) took bronze in the 3000m, running 8:30.39.
Yemane Mulugeta (Trinity Western) had an impressive double, securing silver in the 3000m (8:22.13) and bronze in the 1500m (3:56.36).
Caleb Emon (Trinity Western) performed well in the jumps, placing 5th in the long jump (6.89m) and 6th in the high jump (1.97m).
Alex Wahl (Calgary) had a 5th-place finish in the shot put, throwing 14.24m.
Madison Gordon (Alberta) finished 6th in the pentathlon, scoring 3137 points.
Dajean Clarke (Trinity Western) claimed the CanWest title in the heptathlon, winning with 5008 points.
BC Athletes Deliver in the OUA Championships
On the OUA side, several BC athletes made their mark with top-eight finishes:
Logan Duley (Toronto) raced to a 4th in the 60m, clocking 6.82.
Alec Brent (Toronto) tied for 4th place in the high jump, clearing 2.02m.
Ryan Denman (Toronto) finished 6th in the long jump, reaching 7.10m.
Looking Ahead to Nationals
With these strong performances, BC athletes are proving they belong on the national stage. They will now shift their focus to the 2025 U SPORTS Indoor Championships, taking place March 6-8 in Windsor, Ontario, where they will compete against the country's best for national titles.
