BC once again proves it is a force to be reckoned with in the throws.
At the Dylan Armstrong Track Classic, a meet named after his coach, Ethan Katzberg threw a new personal best, world lead and smashed his own U23 Canadian Record in the hammer throw. Not to mention he also achieved automatic standard for the World Championships set to take place later this year in Budapest.
This big throw of 78.41m was the first in his series, with his other attempts following at 77.56m, 76.28m and 74.66m.
Katzberg graduated a few years ago from John Barsby Secondary School in Nanaimo, BC, before moving to Kamloops to train with Armstrong. Armstrong is a two-time Pan American Games champion, Commonwealth Games champion, World Championship silver and bronze medalist and Olympic Bronze medalist in the shot put.
During his time in high school Katzberg won both provincial and national championships in the hammer throw. Now at the age of 21, Katzberg has his eyes set on Paris 2024 next year.
We can't wait to see what the future holds.
