The 2025 BCSS Provincial XC Championships will return to Arbutus Meadows in Nanoose Bay, where British Columbia's top high school runners will go head-to-head for provincial titles. Hosted by Nanaimo District Secondary School and Dover Bay Secondary School, this year's event will ignite with the province's top distance talent battling across nine divisions, navigating a fast yet unforgiving course built to challenge both strength and race-day tactics

With its blend of grass, gravel, and rolling hills, Arbutus Meadows delivers a course that rewards brave racing and smart pacing, as one of the most thrilling and spectator-friendly venues anywhere in B.C. high school cross country.

But let's dive into just a few names...

Isaiah Johnston (Clayton Heights Secondary) 

Johnston enters provincials as one of British Columbia's brightest young distance talents. The 2024 Junior Boys provincial champion has continued his rise this fall, winning both the 2025 South Fraser Zone title (as a first-year senior) and the BC Athletics U18 6km crown in 18:38. 

Lyla Teer (W.J. Mouat Secondary)

Teer has been dominant on the junior circuit this season, collecting wins at the Big Valley Clash and the Eastern Valley Zone Championships. Her highlight came at the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational, where she captured JV gold in 18:56.2, finishing more than 30 seconds ahead of a 270-runner field.

Adrianna Buitelaar (Mennonite Educational Institute)

The defending Senior AA Girls provincial champion remains the athlete to beat after an outstanding season highlighted by her victory at the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational. Buitelaar ran 16:47.9 to win the elite women's race, becoming the only athlete to break 17 minutes and placing among the fastest in the meet's 42-year history.
