BC's Distance Standouts

Jade Lenton has had a break-out year in 2025 so far. Compared to last year, she's dropped her 400m PB by nearly 2 seconds. Her 800m PB has fallen by a whopping 6 seconds over the last three years. Lenton, a Langley Mustangs athlete, was the Canadian Indoor Champion in the Women's Short Track 800m this year. She enters the games ranked first and will look to add to her national medal collection. She also will contest the 400m in what will be a very hotly contested final.

Flying onto the USPORTS scene this past year, Yemane Mulugeta is ready to take on the nation's best under-24 athletes. Mulugeta was Trinity Western University's Male Rookie Athlete of the Year with a 4th place finish at the USPORTS Cross Country Championships and two Canada West podium appearances in track and field. Mulugeta ranks first among all entrants in the Men's 5000m.

In the Steeplechase, a UBC trio looks to score big. 2025 NAIA champions Dylan Uhrich and Elysse Fleming lead the charge for BC, with Uhrich seeded first and Fleming third. 2025 NAIA Runner-Up Maximilien Filion will come into the games ranked third.

Throwers Set to Light Up National Stage

Although BC has become known throughout Canada as a hammer-throwing hotspot, BC is showing we have excellent depth in all of the throws.

The 2025 Canadian National Champion, Eniko Sara, will be competing in the javelin for Team BC. Sara is a University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate, where she was an NCAA Second-Team All-American this year. With a seed throw of 55.78m, she will look to strike gold at the games. On the men's side, UBC teammates Theodore Manuel and Kayden U-Ming enter ranked third and fourth overall in what looks to be a very close competition.

In the shot put, Michael Ogbeiwi enters ranked second, one of only two entered competitors to throw over 17m in the event. Ogbeiwi is a University of Arizona athlete who is also a 4-time Canadian National Champion in various events.
