Jerome Classic 2025 Shines Under Swangard Lights

Since the meet began in 1984, the Jerome Classic has become one of BC's most anticipated track events of the year. Bringing in track superstars from around the world as part of World Athletic's Continental Tour, this meet always offers exciting performances and this year was no exception. With nationals just weeks away for many of these athletes, this meet was our opportunity to get a sneak peak at the World Championships later this year in Tokyo.

Records Shattered

The Jerome Classic crowd this year was treated to multiple record-breaking performances right at the start of the meet, headlined by local talents and Olympians Evan Dunfee and Olivia Lundman

Dunfee set a new Canadian and Jerome Classic meet record in the 3000m racewalk with a time of 11:02.07. Lundman set the new U23 Canadian and Jerome Classic meet record with a time of 12:56.26.

Behind Lundman, a new up-and-coming local racewalker Maya Piesik of the Vancouver Thunderbirds broke Lundman's U18 Canadian record in the event.

University of Guelph distance standout and sub-4 miler Max Davies also set a new Canadian Record, rewriting the books in the U23 Men's 1500m with a time of 3:35.04.

Out in the field, Paralympian Charlotte Bolton threw a new Canadian F41 record in the shot put. Bolton launched a throw of 9.62m.

Canadian Olympian Sarah Mitton also amped up the crowd with a huge throw of 20.14m in the shot put, a new Jerome Classic meet record.

The night finished with one last meet record from Olympian Regan Yee, who reset the meet record in the 3000m with an 8:47.90 performance.
